WHAT IS A COMMUNAL CONSERVANCY ?

Imagine a unfenced land, at the heart of wide and preserved open spaces. Between two hills sometimes emerges a small village where its habitants attend to their daily activities: look after the goats, go to school, endlessly arguing under a shady acacia or Mopane tree.

Most of this people decided to keep their traditional ways while adapting to the modern life, their cellphone tightly attached to their goat skin belt.

They have decided to coexist with their wild environment rather than being in conflict with it, which is often problematic: predation, competition over grazing and water. They are allowed to do so thanks to a legal process which gives them rights but also duties over wildlife.

These villagers are now custodians of their own environment and benefit in return from the profit it creates, especially from tourism.

Your visit allows them to live in symbiosis with Nature in a sustainable way.
